Scottish Water completes sewer work in Fraser Street Inverness

Scottish Water has completed work to renew the sewer beneath a busy Inverness street with minimum disruption to city centre businesses and residents.

The work in Fraser Street was carried out on Scottish Water’s behalf by Lanes Group using ‘no dig’ technology to avoid the need for disruptive excavation.  The process involved relining the inside of the pipe beneath the road, taking access via the existing manholes.

The road closed each night over a two week period between 7.30pm and 7am to allow the work to take place.  Discussions took place in advance with Inverness Business Improvement District (BID), nearby businesses, bus companies and taxi operators to finalise the plans.  With the road re-opening each morning, visitors to the area in the daytime could see little sign of the work progressing beneath their feet.

Essential work to renew the sewer in a busy Inverness street has been completed with minimal disruption to locals.
