Final stages of work taking place
16th May 2012
Scottish Water - in partnership with Byzak Ltd - is progressing well with the work to install a new storm water network to help improve the natural environment in Airdrie and beyond.
Now that the major civil engineering work is complete, we need to connect together the various parts of the new waste water network which will serve the town for years to come.
A large electrical cable has now been identified within the Stirling Street vicinity and this needs moved to allow us to complete the work.
Work will start in Stirling Street week commencing 21 May 2012 and we anticipate completion of this work around end of July 2012.
A three way traffic management system will be in place for 2-3 weeks from 21st May.
We will make all reasonable efforts to minimise disruption and we want to thank local residents and businesses for their continued patience and support whilst we deliver this essential work.
If customers have any questions about Scottish Water or the work we are doing in Airdrie, please contact our Customer Helpline on 0845 601 8855 quoting "capital/400740/Byzak/Airdrie".

Molly the Mole comes out of her hole
18 January 2012
Molly the Mole, Scottish Water’s tunnelling machine that has completed a 1.2km storm water sewer under Airdrie, has been raised from the ground at an event attended by local councillors Jim Logue and David Stocks.
The removal of the tunnelling machine was carefully planned to ensure it was safely lifted out. The tunnel it has created is wide enough to drive a family car down and will create a relief in times of heavy rain that diverts the water to a new storm tank at the site of the old Airdrie sewage works to the rear of Go Outdoors on Lock Street.

Progress so far as of March 2012.
