Haymarket Terrace Sewer Upgrade

We are nearing the completion of our works along Haymarket Terrace to help prevent sewer flooding. We have now installed 94% of the new sewer pipe, at a depth of 3.5m, starting from outside the Apex Hotel to Haymarket Railway Station.

The laying of the new sewer pipes has been challenging, requiring utility diversions (a number of which were not marked on maps) and removal of the old tram lines. At times we have adopted a method of work, which is slower, to avoid damage to utilities and potential further disruption to businesses and residents.

The final stages of work involves gas diversion works at the junction of Rosebery Crescent/ Haymarket Terrace to allow for the remaining new sewer pipe to be installed and connected to the existing sewer network. We aim to complete this by the end of July this year, subject to no further delays. We appreciate this work has been disruptive and we would like to thank you for your understanding and patience over the last nine months.

Recently we resurfaced both Magdala & Eglington Crescent, in coordination with Edinburgh City Council. We know there are some issues with the new road surface, which we are investigating with the council and seeking agreement on how best to repair. Unfortunately this will mean local parking restrictions will be put in place, please look out for these and kindly ask vehicle owners to observe.
