Isle of Seil

Seil

Scottish Water's objective is to create a positive impact on our customers and communities through our activities and investment programme. On the Isle of Seil we want to deliver a long term, sustainable Waste Water Treatment System for present and future generations. To help us achieve this we have set up a community stakeholder group chaired by Michael Russell, the constituency MSP for the area. This group will ensure we are listening to the community whilst providing information about various options being investigated. The group also includes an independent expert, Chris Chubb who is there to guide thinking and provide additional reassurance.

Proposals for the Waste Water Treatment on Seil

  • Provide a long term sustainable Waste Water treatment system for Seil
  • Provide first time treatment to the current raw discharge at Seaview Terrace
  • Undertake short term actions to improve performance at the existing Clachan-Seil Works
  • Engaging with and listening to the community

We have held community information events where we provided an update on operational activity and discussed proposals to provide a long-term, sustainable waste water treatment system for the Isle of Seil. The events were well attended and we received a wide variety of feedback from the community on initial proposals.

This feedback received, together with the additional feasibility work currently underway, will help to build evidence to ensure the best possible solution is presented to the community and ultimately to the Scottish Water Board for final approval.
