Strathpeffer sewer renewal

Scottish Water, with its alliance partner amey-Black and Veatch (aBV), is carrying out essential work to renew the main sewer in Strathpeffer on the A834 from the junction with Ulladale Crescent (near the Community Centre) down to the entrance to the Ben Wyvis Hotel.  The work is needed to ensure the sewer can continue to serve our customers and protect the local environment in the years ahead.

To complete the first phase of work, it was necessary to close the A834. The road has now re-opened to traffic, but we would like to apologise for the need to extend the closure beyond its intended three weeks duration.

Repair works will now continue until the end of April 2018. Three-way traffic lights will be required on the A834 near the primary school for around four weeks. Two-way traffic lights on the A834 will then be used on sections of the road until the remaining work is complete.

A specialised re-lining technique will be used for much of the work to avoid the need for widespread excavation in the village centre and reduce disruption in the community.

Pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained as far as possible throughout the rest of the work and local businesses will be open as usual.

Information event

An information event was held on Wednesday 29th November at Strathpeffer Community Centre to allow customers to discuss our plans with members of our team and provide feedback.  We would like to thank everyone who came along to find out more and share their views, which have contributed to preparations for the planned work.

The information that was available at the event is available to download below.
