Strathpeffer sewer renewal

Latest news

A £500,000 project to renew the main sewer in Strathpeffer on the A834 from the junction with Ulladale Crescent (near the community centre) down to the entrance to the Ben Wyvis hotel has now been completed.

The work was needed to ensure the sewer can continue to serve our customers and protect the environment in the years to come.

The project

The project got underway in late January 2018 and initially required the closure of a section of the A834 for several weeks while a section of the sewer was completely replaced. Measures were put in place to ensure that school and public transport services could continue to operate.
A further two-day closure took place over the Easter holiday period to enable final reinstatement of the road to take place, with a local diversion being possible for cars and light vehicles.
Following the initial road closure, the majority of the work was completed using a specialised relining technique to renew the existing sewer, minimising the requirement for widespread excavation and further disruption in the village.
The work was carried on Scottish Water's behalf by alliance partners amey-Black & Veatch (aBV).

Information event

An information event was held on Wednesday 29th November at Strathpeffer Community Centre to allow customers to discuss our plans with members of our team and provide feedback.  We would like to thank everyone who came along to find out more and share their views, which have contributed to preparations for the planned work.

The information that was available at the event is available to download below.
