Water is something that we often take for granted. Whether in the mood for a refreshing glass of water, a comforting steamy bath, a hot cup of tea, or putting on another load of washing, water is a vital commodity in your household.
Each of us uses an average of 143 litres of tap water and creates 136 litres of waste water every day. Every drop is treated to make it safe for you to drink and for it to be returned safely to the environment.
Every penny collected through your charges, less than a pound a day for the average household, goes towards maintaining and improving your water and waste water services.
The pages in this section provide an explanation of the different types of charges there are for our household customers, and gives the details of what the charges are for the relevant financial year (which runs from 1 April until the following 31 March). The different types of charges for our household customers are:
- If your house doesn’t have a water meter
- If your house has a water meter
- Septic tank de-sludging charges
