Take Boat trips Around Loch Katrine

The scenery and the landscape of the Trossachs have played a significant part in the history and literature of Scotland. This dramatic scenery was the inspiration and setting for Sir Walter Scott`s first major work "The Lady of the Lake". Scott's colourful description of the scenery of the Trossachs inspired the first tourists to venture to Highland Scotland. So it is fitting that the steamer which ventures into the deep highland vastness, on the sparkling waters of the beautiful Loch Katrine, should be named after the author who also penned the tales of folk hero Rob Roy MacGregor.

Loch Katrine

Your trip on the S.S. Sir Walter Scott begins at the Trossachs Pier, and takes a leisurely sail up to Stronachlachar, situated on the south west of Loch Katrine. On your trip you will take in the breath-taking scenery and pass some historic landmarks such as Ellen's Isle, Silver Strand, Portnellan, one of the burial places of the clan MacGregor, the Royal Cottage and the Factor's Island.

At Stronachlachar you can buy a day permit to allow fly fishing for brown trout.

The conical shape of Ben A'an, above Ellen's Isle, dominates the wooded glen. It stands like a sentinel guarding the Glen and provides a perfect vantage point to view Loch Katrine in all its splendour. There are coach and car parking facilities, tearoom, souvenir shop and bike hire at the Trossachs Pier.

Why not join us at the 'Captain's Rest' where you can enjoy good food in comfortable surroundings, set in the breathtaking environment of the Trossachs.
