Growth and development
What we're doing
We are investigating how we are going to provide additional supply for developments in East Renfrewshire.
Amount invested
The project will cost £500,000 and Scottish Water is contributing towards this.
Area Affected
Scottish Water is working with East Renfrewshire Council and developers whose work requires mains diversions in Glen Street, Barrhead to allow for retail and other types of development.
The work there will effectively provide a rehabilitation of the current water main as we will be installing new pipes.
Also, in Greenlaw Park, Newton Mearns, we are replacing a water main in a project to allow development in the area."
Growing, thriving communities
East Renfrewshire Council leader Councillor Jim Fletcher said:
“This is good news for East Renfrewshire. Water is an essential requirement of life and enhanced quality drinking water for existing residents allied with increased capacity to allow for housing development, helps maintain and further develop our area as a very attractive place in which to live, work, play and invest.
