Doing it for Dalbeattie

What we're doing

Having already completed projects to construct massive storm sewers, storing excess surface water in times of heavy rain, work will now begin on the local wastewater treatment works and Port Street Pumping Station.

Amount invested

£6.5 million

Start date

May 2008

End date

Ongoing

Partners

Carillion will replace the Port Street Pumping Station and the improvements to the local wastewater treatment works.

Area Affected

Work to construct the storm tank pumping station and sewer in Urr Road has now been completed and local people will benefit from improvements to the quality of the Dalbeattie Burn, during times of heavy rain.

Growing, thriving community

Local Councillor Ian Blake has been taking an interest in the Dalbeattie project from the start. He’s confident the work will deliver many benefits to the area:

"ith improved sewerage provision we can perhaps encourage further affordable housing development and kick start the regeneration that Dalbeattie badly needs. “
