North Ayrshire to get better quality drinking water
What we're doing
Scottish Water is to invest about £600,000 to replace or upgrade a 7.9km stretch of ageing water mains pipe in the village of Auchentiber between Dalry and Stewarton.
It follows the completion of a major upgrade at Camphill Water Treatment Works and is part of our substantial investment to remove manganese from the trunk and distribution mains supplied by the works.
Manganese occurs naturally in the source water and, while the supply is safe to drink, it can produce discolouration of the water.

Area Affected
The latest phase of the work involves the replacement of 5.9km of iron pipe, mainly by the pipe-bursting method, and the rehabilitation of 2km of pipes just off the B778 at Lylestone Terrace, Auchentiber.
There might be some disruption to the normal water supply in the area - we will give affected customers at least 48 hours notice.
There will be some local disruption to traffic movement during the construction period but we will make every effort to minimise the impact of this. Temporary road closures will be required on Sevenacres Road, Redwells Road and Hindog Road.
Periodically during the work customers might experience low pressure and discoloured water. Those who do experience this should not use the affected water for washing clothes during this time and should instead turn on the cold tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.
