Auchterarder Upgrade

Auchterarder will receive upgraded water mains as part a long term programme by Scottish Water to improve ageing pipes and improve service.

Scottish Water Contracting will start laying 3.3km of new water mains on the 7th of July. The work is expected to last for approximately 11 weeks and represents almost £330,000 worth of investment in the water network.

Ageing pipes will be replaced by new plastic water mains that will provide better quality water and reduce the potential for bursts. Scottish Water will use fast, efficient techniques that will result in minimum disruption wherever possible. There will also be instances where it is not possible to use less intrusive methods, and the only option will be to use the traditional open trench excavation method to expose the pipework.

There may be some disruption to water supplies in the area. Scottish Water will give at least 48 hours advance notification to local people. Periodically during the works local people may experience low pressure and discoloured water – it is recommended that residents do not use any water for washing clothes during this period.  Instead, turn on the cold tap in the kitchen until the water runs clear.

There will be some alterations to traffic movements during the construction period.  Scottish Water will make every effort to minimise any impact on road users.

Local people have been mailed a customer information pack which contains an Electrical Earthing leaflet, a copy of the guide to our Water Mains Improvement programme, a Special Needs/Business Requirements form and a reminder card to hang on the kitchen tap.
