What we're doing
Presenting the cheque, Michael Martin, Scottish Water Solutions, said:
“We have worked closely with the community in Broughty Ferry to ensure that these works cause minimal disruption and inconvenience to residents.
When the project is complete a large number of properties will be removed from the Flooding Risk Register and the waste water network will be much more suited to the potential loads that can occur in the area in heavy weather. We wish the local gala a continued success.”
Area (and event) affected
Work on ther project was suspended for 2 weeks to allow Gala Week in Broughty Ferry go ahead as normal.
Receiving the cheque, Ailsa Redford, President of Broughty Ferry Trader’s Association (BFTA), said:
“We are extremely grateful to Scottish Water, Scottish Water Solutions and Morrison Construction for their hard work to make sure the Gala Day and Week went ahead as in previous years. This has been a mammoth task for these companies to basically put their work on hold for two weeks to allow our events to still to take place.
“Their extremely generous donation will certainly help greatly to the purchase of further Christmas lights which until now have come solely from the BFTA. The lights will be a lasting reminder to the people of Broughty Ferry from these companies who have played a vital role in the flood alleviation project.”
