Reducing supply disruption and leakage on Mull
What we're doing
Residents, businesses and visitors in part of the island of Mull will enjoy better water services when a major Scottish Water project is completed.
The area has suffered from some burst pipes and disruption to the water supply in recent years. The work, which will also help provide clearer, fresher drinking water, will involve the replacement of about 4km of water mains pipes.
Amount invested
£445,000 in this project
This is part of the Vision 2010, an investment of about £72m in water-related projects over the next two years which will provide clearer, fresher drinking water to almost 60,000 people throughout the area.
Start date
4th August
End date
Beginning of October
Partners
Scottish Water Contracting will replace the cement pipes with new plastic ones
Area Affected
Salen and Aros are on the main road on Mull between the ferry terminal at Craignure and Tobermory. There will be some traffic management required on a stretch of the road for a short period during the project.
There will be some disruption to the water supply for a very short period when we reconnect properties to the new pipes.
