Taynuilt and Loch Etvie environment improved by £1.3 million project
What we're doing
The upgrade of the waste water treatment works near the village of Taynuilt is now complete, improving the quality of the water in the river and loch and the sensitive ecosystem.
The investment will also improve the natural environment for the 1100 residents served by the treatment works and the many tourists who visit the area and allow Scottish Water to meet the EU Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency’s shellfish directive.

Area Affected
The waste water treatment works at Taynuilt deals with up to 1815 cubic metres of waste water per day and discharges into the River Nant, which feeds to Airds Bay on Loch Etive.
