The climate is changing and so are we...
Climate change is a major challenge for the water industry and for Scotland.
We’re at the forefront of a changing environment as our raw material is directly dependent on the environment. Our teams deal first hand with torrential rain and potential droughts.
One of our biggest challenges is balancing quality improvements with carbon emissions. By improving treatment to protect public health and clean up the environment we have needed more sophisticated systems which require more power.
We’re working hard to reduce our emissions and maintain a high standard of service during extreme weather. We’re also cracking down on leakage to ensure we’re not taking and treating more water than necessary from the environment, and we’re working closely with local authorities and other agencies on the issue of flooding.
