Non domestic concessions

Due to the introduction of the Water Services (Scotland) Act 2005, the water industry in Scotland is opening up to market competition for non-domestic customers.

Non-domestic customers are defined as being developers involved in the construction of non-domestic properties i.e. commercial properties or the end-user of water services in a non-domestic property.

Non-domestic customers require a Licensed Provider to act on their behalf for all aspects of new connections and the supply of their water and waste water services.

If you are making an application for a new connection to a non-domestic site, the application process changed on the 1 January 2008. In addition, any application for building water will also follow the new process, unless used for self-builds.

If you require a connection before the 31st March 2008, you will need to apply through Business Stream as they are the only Licensed Provider who can provide this service before that date. They can be contacted on 0845 602 8855.

If you require a connection from 1st April 2008, please visit the Water Industry Commission website (WIC) www.watercommission.co.uk for a list of Licensed Providers who can provide services from 1st April 2008.

Please see the table below as a quick guide advising who your application should be made to:

Connections guidelines

For non-domestic applications, do not use the application forms currently referred to within the Developers Guide and available on Scottish Water’s website.

To proceed with your application, call our Customer Connections Team on 0141 355 5511 and a member of the Retail Connections Team will be happy to help you with your application.

At the beginning of your call, point out to the advisor that your call refers to a non-domestic application and/or if it refers to a building water application.
