Ready To Serve Scotland In A Changing Climate

Since Scottish Water was formed in 2002 we have significantly improved the water and waste water service in Scotland. By 2010 we will have invested around £4bn in thousands of quality and service improvement schemes across Scotland.

A consequence of this investment is a rise of between one and two per cent each year in our energy demand. This trend is reflected in our carbon footprint report (pdf).

It indicates that emissions rose from 469,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e) in 2006-7 to 475,000 tonnes in 2007-8, a rise of just over one per cent.

Scottish Water is committed to addressing rising emissions and to ensuring all parts of our business consider carbon and wider sustainability within decisions and actions.
