Scottish Water Sustainable Development Advisory Group

We have established a Sustainable Development Advisory Group (SDAG) in order to provide a forum for discussion on sustainable development issues relating to the Scottish Water, providing an understanding from other perspectives.

SDAG remit:

  • Review the Scottish Sustainable Development Strategy through links with the Scottish Executive SD Directorate, and advise the Board on the implementation within Scottish Water
  • Advise the Board on and challenge the implementation of the sustainable development policy and Ministerial Guidance within Scottish Water
  • Identify the extent to which the regulatory regime constrains the ability to meet the Sustainable Development Duty, and challenge Scottish Water, SEPA and the Scottish Executive on constraints
  • Communicate Scottish Water’s sustainable development duties within and outwith the organisation, for example to SEPA, Scottish Executive, Water Industry Commission, Drinking Water Quality Regulator, Water UK, etc.

The group meet on a quarterly basis and is chaired by a nominee from the Board of Scottish Water.  Membership consists of a variety of Scottish Water staff and external advisers from SNH, WWF Scotland and Waterwatch.
