And as part of Scottish Water we've got access to waste water treatment plants across Scotland, including our newly developed composting and organics recycling facility at Deerdykes, in central Scotland.
That means more choice and more flexibility for you.
Deerdykes Composting and Organics Recycling Facility
You may be aware of the changes taking place in the world of waste management in Scotland and new targets that have been set to protect Scotland’s environment.
Scotland met all its 2006 targets, with the help of modern facilities like Deerdykes. As at December 2007, in the 12 months to June 2006, 25.3% of municipal waste was recycled or composted. Figures released by SEPA (12 November) reveal that Scotland's recycling and composting rate is 29.8% for the rolling year July 2006 to June 2007.
The recycling and composting rate for the first quarter of 2007/08 is 33.4%. Scotland is therefore ahead of its targets.
Facilities such as Deerdykes are helping local authorities to meet their recycling obligations. For example, one of Scottish Water's local authority customers is already exceeding its recycling targets with their green waste being recycled at our Deerdykes facility.
In addition, the facility is reducing pressure on landfill by providing an alternative method of recycling.

At Scottish Water Waste Services, we aim not only to maintain our high standards but to improve on them where possible.
We like to think we’re approachable too. We are always ready to answer your questions and keep you up to date with the ever-changing legislation of the waste industry.
