It may seem an odd thing to say, but we're passionate about our compost. We really are.
Not only does it increase nutrition in the soil, and improve soil structure and water holding capacity; keeping plants healthier, but it also has a vital part to play in the future of Scotland's environment. And it's completely peat-free.
Compost is nature's way of recycling - over time various microorganisms, including bacteria and fungi, break down organic matter into more basic substances.
The result is a valuable source of nutrient rich organic compost with a whole host of uses, from landscaping and turf top dressing to encouraging plant growth.
Deerdykes Composting and Organics Recycling Facility
At Deerdykes Composting and Organics Recycling Facility, all our input materials are fully assessed before being composted and anything that doesn't meet our exacting standards is immediately discarded.
Each batch of compost is given its own record of data, and each stage of the composting process, from input materials to storage, is fully traceable.
We currently use the latest open air composting methods, but we're also very excited about the imminent arrival of our new computer controlled, in-vessel system, only the second such facility in Scotland.
We don't believe that making an environmentally friendly choice should cost you a fortune, nor should it mean that you have to compromise on quality.
That's why we only use the most suitable feedstocks for our compost, and check and recheck every stage of the composting process until the final product is at your door.
Our final product is classified as a soil improver, according to landscape industry specifications. Each batch is clearly and uniquely identified to ensure complete traceability from input source to export destination.
