Planning Applications

The Cairnryan planning application was lodged on 25th September 2009.  Land requirements have been assessed and initial contact has been made with the land owner, in this instance P&O European Ferries.

We are currently in the tendering process to appoint a contractor to deliver the project and are working towards an Easter 2010 start.  The work in Cairnryan is planned to start in winter 2011.

If you have any further questions about Scottish Water, or this project, please contact our Customer Helpline on 0845 601 8855 quoting “Loch Ryan Improvements Scheme”.

We would like to thank those of you who attended the Briefing day on 27 October at the Craignelder Hotel.

To comply with environmental legislation Scottish Water is required to improve waste water treatment in Cairnryan and to achieve this we need to build on the current treatment works site. The improvements require us to construct a pumping station at this site.

As a result of the feedback at the briefing day we have looked again at our proposals and done as much as we can to reduce the visual impact.

We would encourage everyone to view the plans and contact us if you wish to discuss the plans further.

Comments on the new design can still be made to D&G Planning should you wish to.

Scottish Water is committed to protecting our natural environment and the works in Cairnryan are part of a larger project which will go a long way to improving the water quality in Loch Ryan.

Our planning applications for Loch Ryan and Port Rodie are on the right hand side of this page.

Please contact lochryan@scottishwater.co.uk if you have any questions.
