Better Pressure In The Pipeline For Banchory
29-Jul-08
A major effort to improve water pressure for people in Banchory is due to get underway this week (w/b 28 July).
Scottish Water is investing £165,000 in the Aberdeenshire town, replacing a total of 750 metres of pipes. The work is expected to last ten weeks.
The project is part of Scottish Water’s 2010 Vision for Aberdeenshire – a £62million programme of improvements providing more reliable supplies of clearer, fresher drinking water, enabling development and protecting the environment. Customers can find out more and send comments here: www.scottishwater.co.uk/aberdeenshire2010.
Steve Scott, Scottish Water’s communities manager for Aberdeenshire, said: "I’d like to thank the community in advance for their patience during this important work. It will mean better water pressure for many households in Banchory. It goes to show we’re serious about the service we provide all our customers."
WHAT THE WORK INVOLVES
New pipes made from tough plastic will be laid. These will be less prone to leaks and bursts. Some pipes will be larger in diameter than the existing water mains. This will allow more water to flow to customers’ taps during periods of peak demand.
Scottish Water’s investment is aimed at directly improving pressure for 38 properties in Banchory known to suffer from low pressure problems. The new pipes will be laid in Arbeadie Terrace, Station Road and High Street towards the junction of Mount Street. Traffic diversions will be signposted.
