Road Traffic Management Corkerhill Road

Corkerhill Road

A key road closure on Corkerhill Road in south west Glasgow, as part of a major project to improve the water mains network, will be temporarily lifted from early October to comply with a roadworks embargo for the COP26 summit in Glasgow in November.

A section of Corkerhill Road has been closed from its junction with Mosspark Boulevard to its junction with Mosspark Drive since 21 July and had been due to continue for 14 weeks to mid-October.

However, after liaising with Glasgow City Council, the road will be backfilled and reinstated, the closure lifted, and the road fully re-opened, from October 1 due to the COP26-related restrictions.

We will need to return to Corkerhill Road to complete pipe-laying work, probably in early January, and will confirm the exact date in due course.

We are carrying out important work to install sections of water main as part of the Glasgow Resilience Project, which involves the installation of seven miles of new pipes.

The new mains will connect the Glasgow area’s water network and the system in Ayrshire to increase resilience and protect supplies for about one million customers.

The new water main is being installed in the Ibrox, Mosspark, Pollok, Priesthill, Nitshill and Parkhouse areas of Glasgow.

The project is being delivered for Scottish Water by Caledonia Water Alliance, our alliance partner and is expected to be completed in 2023.
