Urgent work

Please plan your journey and allow extra time if possible. We're sorry for delays while our team works to resolve the issue and repair the road surface

Scottish Water's local team are responding to a choke on the main sewer in Leachkin Road, Inverness.

The sewer has already been returned to operation and work is taking place to investigate and address the cause of the problem. A section of Leachkin Road has been closed to traffic in the interests of safety, following the impact of the choke on the road surface. Traffic is being diverted via Kinmylies Way, Creag Dhubh Terrace and Lawers Way.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We would like to apologise to customers in the area for the need to close a section of Leachkin Road without notice.

"Our team on site responded quickly to make the site safe and restore operation of the sewer. The damage to the road surface means that a significant repair is needed before the road can be re-opened to traffic safely.

"We would ask road users to plan their journeys - and thank them for their patience while we are working to investigate and address the cause of the problem; as well as to arrange reinstatement of the road surface as quickly as possible.”
