Scottish Water van parked on road under construction among orange traffic cones

We are shortly going to be carrying out some investigation work in Cumnock ahead of delivering a significant water main upgrade in the town.

There has been persistent pressure problems affecting parts of the town in recent years. To address the issue, we are preparing to deliver a project to upgrade a section of the existing water main and install a new dedicated water main to serve the Barony Campus.

From Saturday 25th May 2024 for approximately four days we will be excavating a total of eight trial holes along the proposed route of the new pipe - Underwood Road and Auchinleck Road.

The investigation work will require two-way traffic lights and stop-go boards to allow our contractor to work safely and efficiently, but we will do all that we can to mitigate any disruption, particularly for people using the campus. We have arranged for around half of the work to be carried out over the weekend when we anticipate fewer people requiring access.

We are also planning to begin work on the main project at the start of the school summer holidays. This should mean we have completed installation of the Underwood Road phase of the work by the time classes resume in August. The entire project is expected to take approximately eight weeks.
