Posted: Thursday 1st April 2021 14:00hrs
Next Update: Friday 30th April 2021 16:00hrs

Customers in the Cowdenbeath, Hill of Beath and Kelty areas of KY4 may be experiencing discoloured water as a result of flushing work in this area.

Some customers in this area have been experiencing poor water pressure supplying their properties. The flushing work is the first stage of planned work for your area to improve the pressure issues and ensure we can deliver high quality drinking water to all our customers.

This work will start on 5th April between 2200hrs and 0600hrs and last for approximately 4 weeks.

To minimise disruption to you this work will take place overnight and your water supply will not be interrupted.

What happens next?

You are unlikely to notice any change to your water during this work but some customers may experience a short term drop in pressure or slightly discoloured water. This is normal and will resolve itself quickly.

If this happens don’t be alarmed, turn on the cold water tap in your kitchen, let the water flow slowly until it runs clear.

We do recommend no appliances (such as washing machines and dishwashers) are used during the night on the planned dates/times of our flushing.

If you would like more information and advice about this type of work, please visit our website www.scottishwater.co.uk/flushing

Is it safe to drink / use?

Yes, it’s safe to use and drink although we appreciate you may wish not to at the current time due to the discolouration. We apologise for this inconvenience.
