Water mains work in Corstorphine moves on to next phase

10 January 2018

The rolling programme to improve the water mains infrastructure in and around Corstorphine has begun on Kirk Loan following the festive break.

Kirk Loan is closed from the junction of Saughton Road North to the public library for around two weeks and will then move north up to the junction of St John’s Road.

On 15 January, a contraflow system will be installed on St John’s Road from Kirk Loan to the junction of Belgrave Terrace for approximately three weeks.  Access to Belgrave Terrace/Clermiston Road will be closed with a diversion route along Clermiston Road, Drum Brae Drive, Drum Brae South and St John’s Road.

The work will then move to Clermiston Road from 5 February.

Scott Fraser, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager, said: “We are progressing well and ahead of schedule, with a kilometre of new pipe along Saughton Road North supplying around 4,000 customers.

“We’d like to thank residents and businesses for their continued patience and advise drivers in the area to allow extra time for their journeys and follow all diversion signs in place.

“We’d also encourage our customers to keep up to date with the work on the Scottish Water dedicated webpage:”
