The road closure on a stretch of London Road that was put in place on Tues 30 July to enable repairs to be carried out to a burst water main, and to allow repairs to take place on a stretch of road which was damaged following the burst, remains in place.

The section of London Road at its junction with Fielden Street and Dunn Street remains closed while Scottish Water, in liaison with other relevant organisations, assesses what reinstatement work is required on the road surface and ground beneath. Preparatory works and utility diversions are currently underway and further investigation work will be carried out to inform the reinstatement plan.  There is no quick fix as the work requires multi-agency involvement.

Every effort is being made to minimise disruption to road users and to get the road re-opened as quickly as possible. However, for safety reasons, the road traffic management will be required there for some time.

We will bring you further information on anticipated timescales when we are in a position to do so.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank road users for their patience and co-operation.
