Algal Blooms Advice for Visitors to Little Denny Reservoir
We’re advising people that blue-green algae has been found in water in part of Little Denny Reservoir, Falkirk.
The naturally-occurring algal scum can be harmful to health due to toxins released into the water.
We're installing signs advising people to take precautionary measures and ensure that they, their children and pets avoid contact with the scum and water close to it.
We’re advising visitors not to bathe, paddle or fish in the water and also that people and dogs should not drink from the water.
We would also like to reassure members of the public that the presence of the algae has had no impact on the local water supply. Little Denny Reservoir is non-operational and not used for drinking water purposes.
