Essential sewer repair in Monifieth High Street

Scottish Water will be carrying out essential repairs to the sewer in Monifieth High Street to address a potential cause of flooding after heavy rainfall and ensure its network can continue to serve customers.

To enable the repair to be completed safely by Scottish Water’s contractor, Kier, it is necessary for a small section of the High Street to be closed to traffic outside The Crown Inn. The closure is expected to be in place for a week, from Monday, January 13.

A diversion route around the closure will be clearly signposted and safe pedestrian access will be maintained throughout. Businesses on the High Street will remain open as normal and will be accessible on either side of the closed section of street.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We would like to thank customers, road users and businesses for their patience while we carry out this essential work to repair a section of sewer in Monifieth High Street.

“We understand that this is a busy part of town and, alongside our contractor Kier, are working hard to ensure the work can take place safely and with as little disruption as possible. The closure itself affects only a short section of the High Street, which will still be fully accessible by pedestrians and businesses will continue to operate as normal.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while we complete these repairs.”
