Burncrooks Water Improvements

What are we doing?
Scottish Water is investing in a multi-million pound project to ensure water quality to thousands of people in parts of East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire and west Stirlingshire areas by changing the source of their water supply from Burncrooks WTW to Milngavie WTW.
What does the project involve?
There are four key components of the project:
• Pumping station at Bankell Service Reservoir
• Transfer main from Bankell Service Reservoir to Baljaffray Service Reservoir
• Pumping station near Craigton
• Rising main from Baljaffray Service Reservoir to connect to the south of the Carbeth DMA
Planning
Planning permission for the pumping station at Bankell was granted on the 18th of September 2018. Start on site is planned for early in the new year. Preliminary site set up at Bankell is now in place.
Ground Investigation
Ground investigation to confirm the design and final pipe route is almost complete. This initial phase of investigations took place on private land and adjacent to some pathways. Further groundwork may be required over the next few weeks however this will also be on private land.
