Milton Sewer Improvements

£3million project to address flooding in Milton, Glasgow

This project is to help prevent sewer flooding in the Milton area where we need to increase the capacity of our sewer network so it can hold more water during times of heavy rainfall. To do this we will be upsizing the existing sewer pipework and installing new storm overflow pipes.

Key project facts:

  • Work started in September 2016 and will take approximately 12 months to complete
  • Site cabins are set up in the car park at the high flats at Scaraway Drive week and will remain for the duration of the project
  • Work will be carried out in several phases. There will be some roadworks throughout the project, including temporary traffic lights and parking restrictions
  • We will keep the the website up to date with details of all related roadworks and road closures
  • Pedestrican access will be maintained at all times

Plan of works in Milton, Glasgow

Update January 2017

Ashgill Road:

  • From 9th January 2017 traffic management and parking restrictions will be set up from no. 455 to no 483 Ashgill Road. This will be in place until the end of March 
  • Installing new sewer pipes along Ashgill Road
  • This phase will take approximately seven months

Scaraway Street

  • Work is continuing on installing large diameter flood storage pipes in the grassed area off Scaraway Street

Mingulay Crescent

  • Work to install the new sewer pipes on Mingulay Crescent are due to start week commencing 13th Mach
  • This phase will take approximately four months to complete
  • A road closure will be required for this phase though all affected customers will be written to prior to the start of this work.
  • Road closure details will be updated on the website ahead of the start of work
  • There may be access restrictions to driveways during this work but we will speak to any affected customers beforehand

Milton Park

  • Following on from Scaraway Street works, work to install large diameter storage pipes in Milton Park are due to start week commencing 13th February
  • This phase will take approximately four months to complete
  • During this time the park will be closed, however, the children' park will remain open
  • Prior to work starting, we will be installing drop kerbs off Valley Street to allow for construction deliveries
