Local councillor Lynne Quinn has championed the tap from the outset, and helped to mark its official launch.

“I think the tap is fantastic! It’s going to be a great addition to Gourock. It’s in an ideal location with lots of footfall and I’m certain it will be well-used by locals and tourists alike.”

Scottish Water has officially launched its latest Top Up Tap in the picturesque town of Gourock.

Located at the town’s bustling transport hub and just a stone’s throw away from the promenade, the new public water fountain is close to Gourock’s iconic outdoor swimming pool and is ready to keep locals and visitors to the area hydrated during a busy summer period.

Local Councillor Lynne Quinn has championed the tap from the outset and recently helped mark its launch. She said: “I think the tap is fantastic! It’s going to be a great addition to Gourock. It’s in an ideal location with lots of footfall and I’m certain it will be well-used by locals and tourists alike.

“All people need to do is remember their refillable water bottle so they can top up from the tap and hydrate on the go.”

Three out of four people in Scotland now carry a water bottle when on the move, negating the expense and environmental impact of buying bottled water.

With 93 Top Up Taps now installed at a variety of locations across the country, Scottish Water Top Up Taps are having a positive impact of reducing plastic waste.

Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west said: “Since the launch of our first Top Up Tap back in 2018, our taps have helped save the equivalent of 4.5 million 330ml plastic bottles - it’s a phenomenal amount!

“We can all continue to help protect the environment by carrying a refillable water bottle and topping up from the tap when out and about. It’s that simple.”

Scottish Water’s Your Water Your Life campaign encourages people to carry a refillable water bottle and drink tap water on the go to benefit their health, save money and protect the planet.
