Industrial Action Suspended

16 November 2023

Planned industrial action by trade unions has been suspended after agreement was reached over a pay award and plans for a new pay and grading system for Scottish Water employees.

Three unions will now put arrangements in place to ballot their members.

Strike action was carried out between Friday and Monday Nov 10-13 with further industrial action planned for this weekend. Unions have now confirmed this has been suspended pending the ballot, following the conclusion of a fourth round of talks supported by ACAS.

Peter Farrer, Scottish Water Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with the joint trade unions which provides our employees with a route to an exceptional pay award and a modern pay and grading system and halts immediate further industrial action. Union members will be balloted on the proposal shortly and we hope for a positive outcome."
