Applying for a Licence

Applying for a Scottish Water standpipe licence is easy. 

Simply complete a Standpipe Application Form and return to Standpipeservicedesk@scottishwater.co.uk.

Hire or renewal of your standpipe licence requires a purchase order or reference number and on receipt of your application we will send an invoice. Find out how to pay for your standpipe licence here. 

The hire charges for 2025/26 for each standpipe licence are as follows (costs inclusive of 20% VAT):

Cost:                      £255.84         £436.56       £617.16       £797.88

Delivery cost of standpipe - £30 (inclusive of 20% VAT) to be added to your Purchase Order or Reference.

Our standpipe provider, Frazer Glasgow, will be closed from 12 noon on Wednesday 24th December 2025 and will re-open on Monday 5th January 2026.  Standpipes cannot be collected, delivered or returned during this period.

Renewing a licence

3 weeks before your licence is due to expire we will send you a reminder letter and application form for you to renew your licence.  A further reminder will be sent 1 week before the licence expires.

If you don't renew your licence or return your standpipe, you will be liable to pay a year's cost for your standpipe.

Each standpipe licence can be renewed on a 3, 6, 9 or 12 month basis.  Payment can be made by official purchase order or reference number and should be included with your renewal application.
