The office, located in Stepps, features 3 different types of renewable energy technology

The Bridge - Scottish Water’s office in Stepps, near Glasgow - was opened in 2013 and designed to meet current and future business needs. 

The state-of-the-art facility was designed and built by BAM Construction. The energy-efficient, low-carbon, three-storey building includes enhanced IT and technology capabilities to improve customer experience. At the time of opening The Bridge was the most environmentally-friendly building of its kind in Europe. 

It  features the following renewable energy technologies:

  • A biomass boiler with a total installed capacity of 199kW. This site can generate up to 500,000kWh of renewable energy every year.
  • 12kW solar panels which can generate up to 10,000 kWh per annum
  • Solar thermal energy technology with a total installed capacity of 20kW. This can generate up to 15,000kWh of renewable energy every year
