Investment to Keep Lochside Community on Tap

We're carrying out a £160,000 programme of much needed work to upgrade water pipes for communities along Loch Tay.

Around 700 metres of water main in Ardeonaig is to be replaced due to the number of bursts affecting supplies to customers over the past few years. Work starts on Monday 18 October and will last approximately six weeks.

For the duration of the project, the road between Camusurich and Ardeonaig will be closed daily from 9am to 3pm. Local access will be possible while upgrade work is underway in the road verge and fields.

However, from Monday 25th October for two weeks the road will be fully closed between 9am and 3pm to allow a section of the new water pipe to be laid in the road itself.

Local access will then be possible for the remainder of the project from Monday 8th November while the upgrade works are completed in the road verge and fields.

The Ardeonaig Hotel and other local businesses will be open as usual throughout.

Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager for the west Georgina Reid said: “This has been a challenging project given the relatively remote location and the fact local people and businesses rely on what is essentially a single-track road.

“We have worked closely with customers and Stirling Council to come up with a plan that strikes the right balance between allowing access whilst ensuring the safety of our works team.

“It has been a very difficult time for everyone over recent months, but we have reached the stage where this work has to go ahead to prevent our customers experiencing further interruptions to their water supplies.

“We would like to thank local people and road users for their patience and understanding.”
