The water meter serving your property is owned by Scottish Water and it records the amount of water that you use. 

Your metered water and waste water bills are based on the volumes of water you are using. 

It’s in your interest to ensure that your water meter is kept in good working order so that it registers the water you’re using accurately. 

If your water meter is damaged and needs to be replaced, you will have to pay the actual cost of replacing the meter if the damage was caused by frost or anyone other than Scottish Water or a representative working on our behalf. 

You can help to protect your water meter, as well as your property, by ensuring that the water meter and pipes inside your property are adequately insulated.
