Water Network Repair in Bridge Street, Kirkwall

Overview

Scottish Water will be carrying out essential repairs to the water network on Bridge Street in Kirkwall from Monday 13 June for up to five days.

Why are we doing this

The work is needed to repair a leak on the local water network in order to prevent loss of water, avoid damage to the road and the risk of unplanned work being required in the future.

What we are doing

  • To enable the repairs to be completed safely, Bridge Street will need to be closed to traffic from Dil Se Indian restaurant northwards, which will also impact upon access to Albert Street
  • Safe pedestrian access past the working area will remain possible throughout
  • Businesses affected by the road closure have been provided with contact details to enable any necessary deliveries to be coordinated
  • The necessary work will be completed as quickly as possible, but time is needed after reinstatement of the excavation to ensure the flagstones are reset successfully before traffic can run over them again

Scottish Water apologises for any inconvenience caused by this essential work, which is required to repair a leak and ensure all customers continue to receive a reliable supply of clear, fresh drinking water, while minimising the risk of unplanned disruption in the future. We would like to thank customers and road users for their understanding while this work is completed.
