Sunnyside Megray mains renewal
Project overview
We are taking care of the water services in your community by upgrading the water pipes between Maryculter and Stonehaven to ensure you continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water, and reduce the chance of pipes bursting. The works are being carried out by our delivery partner, Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA).
What we are doing
We will be installing approximately 10.5km of new water main within private land and along the B979 between Sunnyside Cottage and the AWPR roundabout.

Latest information
Sections on the road will require various traffic management to allow our work to be carried out safely. This will include localised road closures along the B979. These are not planned until January 2026.
A drop-in event is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 December 2025 at Cookney Village Hall between 4pm and 7pm to provide further details of the project.
Work has started at the Sunnyside Cottage side and will progress South on a rolling basis.
During the work, if we need to turn off the water supply, we will send residents notice and further information at least 48 hours in advance, detailing the dates and times that the supply will be affected and what to do.
