Emergency Sewer Repairs

The A8 westbound slip road to the A752 Bargeddie is currently closed to allow for emergency sewer repairs

We are currently carrying out emergency sewer repairs on the A8 westbound off and onslip to the A752 Bargeddie.

There has been a burst on a 700mm waste water pipe bridge in a wooded area near to The Showcase Cinema, Coatbridge.

Overland pumping has been installed to mitigate any impact on the North Calder Water and we have operatives on site monitoring the situation.

SEPA has been notified and we continue to liaise with them.

For the safety of workers and motorists the A8 westbound off and onslip to the A752 Bargeddie has been closed as access is required to a manhole located on the carriageway.

The closure has been agreed in conjunction with Transport Scotland and road users are urged to follow diversions in place:

  • Traffic using the off-slip will be diverted via the A8 at the Bargeddie Roundabout and will return eastbound to the A8.
  • Traffic using the on-slip will be diverted via Langmuir Road and Coatbridge Road.

A repair is now being planned and we will provide an update as soon as we can.

We thank all road users for their patience and understanding.
