Kingsknowe Edinburgh

Project Overview
We are carrying out complex flood mitigation work on the sewer network, between Redhall School and Peatville Terrace. The work includes building a flood retention wall as well as sewer upgrades to help a number of residents who have been affected by flooding.
The project is to be delivered by our delivery partners George Leslie and is expected to be completed by April 2024

Latest Update - November 2023
Since our start on site in July 2023, our teams have been working hard to install an access into the area, temporary over pumping and, new drainage infrastructure, while making the site area safe.
As we progressed with our programme, it was established that adjustments need to be made to some of the new drainage infrastructure. As well as further stabilisation work on the embankments near the school.
In consideration of this additional work, our revised work programme now anticipates an onsite presence until the end of April 2024, and we will be working to try an expedite this where possible.
What we are doing
- We are building a flood retention wall as well as some sewer upgrades to help mitigate flooding in the area
- All the work is within the strip of land behind the houses on Peatville Terrance and Redhall School. An area of vegetation and trees have been removed to allow access into the area, and work to progress
- The site conditions are extremely constrained for space, with steep embankments on the side nearer Redhall School
What happens next
During November and December, we expect to complete most of the drainage work, allowing us to remove the temporary over pumping. Then throughout December and into the New Year we will be progressing with the wall and concreting for the basin.
Over the festive period, our site will be closed from Friday 22nd December until Monday 8th January 2024. There will be no construction activities during this period and the site will be monitored by security surveillance.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we complete this essential work.
