Burst Rising Sewer Main

Repairs has now ben completed on the burst rising sewer main near Clark Crescent

We have completed repairs on a 700mm burst rising sewer main in Stevenston.

This occurred in the field area beside Clark Crescent and was approx. six metres below ground.

The pipe was first located and then a CCTV survey was carried out to investigate the condition of the pipe.

From our CCTV survey we identified multiple defects within the pipe.

We addressed these defects through both patch and/or mechanical lining, and excavation and replacement.

These repairs were challenging due to ground conditions and the proximity of the river and sea, however our teams planned them carefully to ensure they were carried out safely and effectively.

Tankering was in place across multiple sites to manage flows on the network during these repairs, and this was monitored closely to minimise disruption in the area.

Customers’ water and waste water services were not affected during this work.

Alternative parking for nearby residents was agreed with North Ayrshire Council.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) was kept informed throughout this emergency repair work.

Our delivery partner, George Leslie, plan to return to the site at the end of the month to carry out some raking of the grass and seed to help its regrowth and recovery.
