We're advising people that blue-green algae has been found in water in part of Carron Valley Reservoir and North Third Reservoir in Stirlingshire.

The naturally-occurring algal scum can be harmful to health due to toxins released into the water.

Signs are being installed at both sites and we're advising people to take precautionary measures and ensure that they, their children and pets, such as dogs, avoid contact with the scum and water close to it.

Visitors shouldn't bathe, paddle or fish in the water and people and dogs should not drink from the water.

We would also like to reassure members of the public that the presence of the algae has had no impact on the local water supply.
