Scottish Water is investing £2.5 million to take care of Dalwhinnie’s water supply and ensure the provision of clean, safe and fresh tasting water for the future.
The project, which takes into account housing growth and high seasonal demand from tourism, includes:
- Replacing the existing Water Treatment Works (WTW) with a plant which has the capacity to produce up to 200,000 litres of drinking water a day
- Installing a new tank which would provide up to 24 hours of drinking water storage capacity
- Installing four new boreholes to feed the new WTW
Work has been completed on the installation of the new boreholes and work to construct the new treatment works is underway.
Engaging the local community
A drop-in event was held in early 2019 at Dalwhinnie Village Hall for residents to view the proposals and speak to the project team. You can access the information which was on display at the event below.
