A city street is closed off for construction, with barricades, traffic cones, and a sign reading "Road Closed." Construction machinery is visible in the background, and scaffolding covers a nearby building. The weather is wet, with rain making the pavement glisten. Residential buildings line both sides of the street.

Rosebery Crescent Emergency Sewer Repair

We recently carried out emergency sewer repair work in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh.

During investigations on a damaged section of sewer beneath Rosebery Crescent, we identified further damage extending to the main sewer connection on Haymarket Terrace.

Due to the size of the pipe and the depth it is buried - three metres - we had to close part of the road to carry out the work safely.

Latest Update – January 2026

Following the completion of our slab reinstatement works at the junction of Rosebery Crescent and Haymarket Terrace in November, some of the slabs have since cracked and will require further remedial works.

A road closure had been scheduled for Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 January 2026 to allow cracked slabs to be replaced. However, unfortunately, due to a delay in the delivery of materials, these works are no longer able to proceed on those dates.

Following further discussions with the City of Edinburgh Council, the road closure will now take place starting on Wednesday 21 January, with the road reopening early on Friday 23 January 2026.

We will return to site during this period to complete the necessary remedial works and will aim to do so as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption.

We apologise for the change and any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank residents and road users for their continued patience and understanding.
