Project Overview

We are delivering a programme of major investment in Perth’s water and sewerage infrastructure over the coming years to support the city's growth and address flood risk.

We know that Perth is growing and that our climate is changing. Scottish Water has been developing significant investment plans to respond to the continuing growth of the city to the north and west. Extensive survey and modelling work carried out in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council before the pandemic gave us a more accurate and detailed understanding of all the city’s underground and above ground drainage systems than ever before. This identified an opportunity to both provide the capacity needed for new homes and businesses to connect to the sewer system, while also improving the network’s resilience to intense rainstorms.

This will be carried out through a number of projects highlighted below.

Tay Street and Shore Road's Super Sewer

Installation of an upgraded sewer pipeline at Tay Street and Shore Road is currently underway.

Upgrades at Perth Waste Water Treatment Works

Significant growth is planned for the city of Perth by 2033 and the WwTW needs to be upgraded to provide the required capacity to continue to treat the city's waste water.
