Protecting the environment
The project is part of our Improving Urban Waters programme and will help manage heavy rainfall and protect the local community from flooding
What We Are Doing
We are constructing a new storm overflow pipe, new storm overflow chamber and a new storage culvert, along with associated pipework. Our work will also involve the diversion of the existing water mains.
Work is expected to begin on Monday 26th January and we anticipated the project to take approx. nine months to complete.
During the work the Speyside Way Car Park will be closed to vehicles.
Our team on site will begin by setting up our site compound and fencing within the Speyside Way Car Park before beginning any excavation.
As part of our upgrades, a new sewer pipe will be installed along a section of the access road to the Cricket Ground. To allow us to carry this out safely, a road closure will be required during this section of works. More details will be shared on dates when available and advanced signage will be in place.
Pedestrian walkways will be maintained throughout our work. Should there be any time when work requires a footpath closure, an alternative route will be provided.
Why We Are Doing It
Working closely with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Scottish Water identified priority storm overflows for improvement or replacement.
Under the banner ‘Draining the Rain, Enhancing the Environment’ the investment will help manage heavy rainfall, protect the community from flooding, and improve the water environment.
