What We Are Doing

We are constructing a new storm overflow with a powered screen located within Ravenscraig Park car park.

Along with associated new pipework, the project will improve water quality and reduce sewer related debris to the beach area and Firth of Forth during periods of heavy rainfall.

Why We Are Doing It

Working closely with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Scottish Water identified priority storm overflows for improvement or replacement.

Under the banner ‘Draining the Ran, Enhancing the Environment’ the Improving Urban Waters investment will help reduce spills and prevent sewage related debris such as wet wipes from entering the environment during periods of rainfall.

Update - January 2026

Work will begin on Monday 23 February. In order to carry out our work safely Ravenscraig Park car park will be partially closed for a time and roadworks will be required on Dysart Road, although access to private driveways will be maintained.

Advance signage will be in place prior to any closures taking place and full details will be posted here.
