Water Main Upgrade on Forest Road Cumbernauld
Project Overview
Scottish Water will be carrying out upgrade work to existing water pipes on Forest Road in Cumbernauld on behalf of Bellway Homes.
The work will support community growth and ensure customers continue to enjoy fresh, clear drinking water for years to come.
A section of Forest Road will be closed from Tuesday, 13 May, until Friday, 12 September.
A section of footpath between Forest Road and Palacerigg will also be closed until the end of August.
The work will be delivered by Mackenzie Construction on behalf of Scottish Water Horizons.

More Information (Latest Update July 2025)
Most of the work is being carried out on private land next to Forest Road, with no impact on residents, road users, or local businesses.
However, to allow for the installation of a brand-new water main, a section of Forest Road will be closed. A diversion route through Redwood Road will be signposted during the road closure.
The first 70 metres of footpath from Forest Road leading to Palacerigg will also be closed.
Access to local businesses – including the Esso Garage on Forest Road – will still be available during the works.
- Road closure on Forest Road will remain in place until Friday 12 September (previously advised as 8 August)
- Path closure will remain in place until the end of August (previously extended to the end of June)

Section of footpath closed from Forest Road leading to Palacerigg from Mon, 31 March, until end of August
